Gratitude: the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
Thankfulness is more than a featured quality in the attitude of a person, more than a pattern of thought, and more than a habit chosen in the ‘art of living’. There is a tandem attribute of thankfulness that is able to elevate a person beyond their circumstances. ‘Lift the eyes’ to what is behind the veil of this world’s mundane to Heaven, where our imaginations fail us.
Thankfulness in prosperous times may duly fit the association of a polite disposition, a ‘happy’ feeling, & a source of inspiration to ‘seize the day’. However, thankfulness does not mean you must ignore the sorrows of the heart, the weight of burden that life can impose, the pain of loss, or the emptiness of the soul poured out. Be encouraged.
Thankfulness is tandem for all life: whether offered as a sacrifice or echoed in the telling of wonderful news & joy!
And let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving, and tell of His deeds in songs of joy! –Psalm 107:22
No matter where in life you find yourself: discouraged, joyful, all is going good or everything is falling apart, please know to remind yourself the Lord has been there, is there, and will be there for you. Lift your eye’s, meditate on His wonderful works in the midst of deliverance, provision, oppression, & blessings in the past, the present, and the future. Thank Him and live confidently that He is the same God to you.
